The family of a missing geography student whose car was found parked near marshland have appealed for anyone who may have seen him to come forward.
Adam Seaton went missing on Thursday August 9, just days before his 20th birthday.
The red Ford Fiesta which he shared with his mother Karen was found in the car park of Marshside Nature Reserve in Southport.
On Friday, Mrs Seaton along with husband Andy and daughter Helen, 22, appealed for anyone with dashcam footage of the area to come forward.
Mr Seaton said: "Adam was a geography student at Edge Hill University and some of his proposed work was to do with those marshes.
"That to us is the biggest clue, or the biggest potential reason, why he might go there.
"What we don't know is, assuming Adam is the one who parked the car there, we really don't know where he has gone from there."
Mr and Mrs Seaton said they had last seen their son, who had just finished his second year of university, the night before his disappearance, when he returned to their Southport home from a night out with friends.
Both left for work before Adam was up in the morning and when they returned that afternoon they assumed he had been called into work at Morrisons, where he had a part-time job, or was out visiting friends.
They started to become concerned when he had not returned in the early hours and later that morning his older sister spotted the car by the RSPB reserve.
Mr Seaton said: "Adam is personable, sociable, very friendly. He's got a good group of friends and he's an adult leader with the local scouts."
He added: "The last week has been difficult, very difficult. We've had a lot of help from family, friends and workmates."
Mrs Seaton said dashcam footage could be key to working out what had happened to Adam.
She said: "We know he was in Ainsdale between 12pm and 1pm and we're pretty sure it was 5pm onwards that he went to the reserve but we don't know.
"Even if there is anyone who thinks what they know is insignificant, please come forward, the police have had nothing."
Mr Seaton said: "If I could speak to Adam I'd say get in touch with us as a family, get in touch with friends, get in touch with anyone, police or the missing person's charity, just to let us know he's safe and well. Obviously we want him home."
Adam is described as white, 6ft 2in, of slim build and with brown hair, pale complexion and brown eyes.
When he was last seen he was wearing a burgundy tracksuit top with "France" embossed on the arm, a black and white T-shirt, blue jeans and burgundy Puma trainers.
Police are appealing for any drivers with dashcam footage of the car park, on the junction of Marshside Road and Marine Drive in Southport, between 12.25pm and 6.10pm on Thursday August 9, or anyone who saw the red Ford Fiesta, with the registration MK59 GHA, to get in touch.
Anyone who has seen Adam can contact police on Twitter @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact Missing People on 116 000.
