NB: Students who chose to undertake the Degree in Social Work through the institutions of F&HE will complete the first two years at their chosen institution, with the final year being completed at UUM or BIFHE, which will be used as an outreach centre by the University of Ulster for this purpose.

Accelerated Route to the Degree in Social Work in Northern Ireland :

Applicants, who have a relevant degree*, may be eligible to apply for the 'Accelerated Route' to the Degree in Social Work, which can normally be completed in two years.

*A Degree (second class lower division or higher) will be deemed to be a relevant degree where at least 33% of the course passed at Honours level comprises one or more of the following; Sociology, Psychology, Social Policy/ Social Administration, Law, Teaching, Nursing, Community Work, Youth Work, Early Childhood Studies and other cognate subjects at the discretion of the course provider.

Queens University , Belfast and University of Ulster at Magee campus were approved to offer the accelerated route to the Degree in Social Work.

If you do not need further information about social work education and training and simply want to apply to a course in Northern Ireland , all applications including the F&HE institutions are through the UCAS system.
